Medicinal plants:

Medicinal plants are the starting point for our phyto-pharmaceuticals. We know – it’s the science behind growing, harvesting and processing that delivers the true health benefits of phyto-therapy.

That’s why in the making of Zeller medicines, careful attention is applied to plant species and cultivation as well as harvesting methods using precise processes to guarantee production of consistent crops. During this lengthy process, profiles of different plant varieties are analysed to select the best elite plant which can be cultivated on a large scale according to the strict guidelines of the “Good Agricultural Practice”.

Pre-clinical & Clinical Research:

Our phyto-pharmaceuticals have their efficacy, tolerability and safety proven in numerous own clinical trials. We are proud of heaving the results of our studies published in a number of peer-reviewed journals such as British Medicinal Journal (“Randomized controlled trial of butterbur and cetirizine for treating seasonal allergic rhinitis.”Schapowal A.1 et al.,2002) or Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (“Petasol butenoate complex (Ze 339) effectively improves nasal obstruction in comparison to desloratadine in allergic rhinitis” Dimitru2 et al.,2011).

Extraction:

During the production process, selected plant ingredients are extracted with a mixture of alcohol and water. The extraction process is affected by many parameters and has a direct influence on the effectiveness of the finished medicine. In order to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and quality of the finished product, all production steps are implemented according to the pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Tabletting & Packaging:

The dried extract is mixed with different auxiliary agents and moulded into film-coated tablets. Film-coated tablets ensure that the ingredients remain stable for a long time. They make a high dosage accuracy as well as good compliance possible.

Quality Control:

Quality management and quality control are among the most important competences of a pharmaceutical company. We have one of the biggest state-of-the-art phyto laboratories in Europe. The products and raw materials are controlled with the latest analytical methods. In addition, working processes are defined exactly. Internal units as well as external partners are audited on a regular basis.

We continuously improve and broaden our research and development competence. We thereby fully control the supply and value chain from the seed to finished product.
